Steepest Ascent Ltd was formed in 2004 and was founded by a critical mass of engineers who had extensive knowledge of DSP and digital communications systems and exploitable wireless/ mobile and DSP software IP.

Since the start of the company, a strong customer list of both SMEs and international bluechips has been established in Europe, the USA and Japan. In the last 4 years the company has grown by more than 300% and remains independent. The reputation of Steepest Ascent is based around our integrated and industry hardened engineers. Our customers highly value our ability to deliver critical and complex solutions on time in the knowledge the engineering team is very experienced and have extensive knowledge of DSP, Digital Communications and Embedded Systems.

The core business lines of Steepest Ascent Ltd are the provision of mobile and wireless simulation libraries, DSP software tools, professional short and long term consulting, and embedded communication systems design. We have many customers, both SME and blue chips for our various software and CPD products (including in recent times) Nokia, Agilent, Kyocera, LG, Keithley Instruments, Aeroflex, Intel, Freescale, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Mathworks and more.

Mobile/ Wireless Markets

Software products for the PHY layer of the digital communications markets include simulation libraries for 3GPP, HSxPA, 3G LTE, cdma2000 EV-DV / EV-DO, DVB-H, DVB-T and ISDB-T. In addition the company's engineers have extensive experience working on other standards such as GSM, Bluetooth, 802.1x, 802.20, and more generic communications strategies and techniques such as MIMO, beamforming, channel modelling and digital transceiver implementation. We have extensive experience in standard tracking (our engineers have tracked 3GPP since 1999) and our current tracking focus is on the 3G LTE standard. In recent years the company was also part of the IEEE 802.20 standards commitee, culminating in the 2008 standard release.

Continuous Professional Development

The company also remains active on presenting both general and custom short courses for industry. In 2008 more than 12 public courses were presented in the UK, Germany, and the USA. Additionally more than 20 on-site events were presented at company sites around the world. These on-site courses run with an agreed syllabus and take the form of education, coupled with short term consulting, and training, often using our own software libraries. In 2008, we retained excellent levels of repeat business with more than 250 attendees.

Future Roadmap

Steepest Ascent has a roadmap that will release further wireless/mobile standard tracking golden reference libraries and DSP design and implementation solutions. We will also expand our business using our high valued design and development team on consulting projects that we aim to evolve into key partnerships and strategic alliances.
