DSP FPGAs Technology Spotlight

The advent of DSP algorithms implemented on FPGAs brings interesting new design options and paradigms. In the next 5 years we can anticipate more wireless and digital communication standards, pervasive computing and widespread availability of data on the move. Therefore the growing requirements for processing speeds of the order of 10-100 billions of operations per second, the need for rapid prototyping and software definable architectures will further penetrate FPGAs into the DSP communication market. The traditional flow of DSP engineer producing algorithm specifications, and the software engineer implementing on a DSP processor now has many new options and variants when FPGAs are introduced.

Steepest Ascent has extensive experience targeting complex DSP algorithms to FPGA architectures as well as implementing full DSP and Embedded Systems. We have undertaken numerous design reviews of DSP systems including design reviews from the perspective of how a design has been implemented within DSP processor and FPGA devices as well as providing best practise recommendations for the use of DSP FPGA tool flows for successful future design implementations. We are able to provide a range of services to our customers including Software Products, Consultancy and Training all related to DSP and FPGAs. Below is a summary of what Steepest Ascent is able to offer:

Consultancy Services

  • Hardware/ Software implementation of Digital transmitters/ receivers
  • Embedded systems design and turnkey DSP system development
  • Algorithm optimisation for Micro, FPGA and mixed architectures
